Get out of Your Head
Screenplays are tough. Perhaps more than any other art form there are external influences. Even before a producer or director get involved, the audience plays a role in the production. Every screenwriter must understand the mechanics and the dynamics of structure, character, and pace that are the industry standard for movies. Why? Because we are a society raised on film. Whether or not we can write an essay on catharsis, antithesis, or tragic flaw is besides the point. Every audience member can intuit when a beat is off, a moment rushed, a plot point out of place.
Screenplays are never written in a bubble. The audience must always be present. Therefore, it's better to get it on the page than in your head, and it's best to get help. Let's talk about your story, your structure, your theme, and all the elements present and absent in your screenplay.
As a former judge for the LA Screenplay awards I've helped hundreds of writers move their stories forward, and I'd love to help you.
