Why I Act:
In·spire inˈspī(ə)r/ verb
What better profession could there be for a boy who grew up playing make-believe in his backyard in Georgia? As far back as I can remember I was making up stories. I was a Ronin Warrior, a Gundam pilot, or a Dark Knight.
Acting is about action. “Act on the verb.” What does the character want? What drives them?
We live in an age bombarded by communication platforms: podcasts, blogs, vlogs, email, text, twitter, Facebook, twitter, Instagram, and God knows what other platform we are so inclined to use; and yet, we have lost our ability to connect with one another. We spend our whole day checking our phones, updating our social media, checking our notifications.
Theatre is simple. It is about connections: connecting with the actor on stage, connecting with the playwright, the script, the idea, connecting with the story. But most importantly, it's about connecting with the audience and inspiring them.
It’s the most beautiful relationship I could ever wish to be a part of.
